Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is the Most Watched Anime on Netflix India

Vice President of content at Netflix India, Monika Shergill revealed in an article published in Variety on Thursday that the most-watched anime on Netflix in India in 2020 is Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution. The article noted that the film is also the most popular anime title on the platform in Malaysia and Singapore.
Shergill also revealed that the viewership of anime doubled in 2020 on the platform across Asia. The most popular anime title in Japan was Japan Sinks: 2020, in Thailand, was Howl's Moving Castle, in the Philippines was Weathering With You, in Hong Kong and Indonesia was A Whisker Away, and in Taiwan was Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
The article also revealed that India has the highest consumption of films on Netflix globally, with 80% of subscribers streaming at least one film every week in 2020.
